FAQs
Q: What is Bicycle Consignment?
A: When a bicycle is under consignment, it still belongs to the Seller. The Seller has the final say in several choices, including pricing and whether or not test rides are allowed. There are many reasons why our clients choose Consignment; the most common reasons include lack of time/desire to communicate and meet with a potential buyer and safety. Safety concerns are a common reason why Buyers & Sellers alike choose consignment buying/selling. We simply facilitate the sale of the bicycle, in a safe environment during a Sale Day. Our Sale Days take place at a bicycle shop or a public event (bicycle rally, bicycle swap meet, etc). Say "no" to shady parking lot meetups when buying or selling a bicycle; bicycle consignment is the safe way to buy & sell used bicycles.
We do not tune-up, adjust, or alter the bicycles we consign. We encourage serious buyers to arrive at Sale Day, ready to buy, with cash in hand so that they may "CASH HOLD" the bicycle they are interested in. A "CASH HOLD" allows a potential buyer to have the bicycle he/she is interested in to be removed from its rack for inspection and/or test ride (if Seller approved). Read more about "CASH HOLD" below.
Q: How are bicycles priced?
A: We price bicycles based on actual sales comps, the condition of the bicycle, and whether it has any upgrades. We do not price based on bogus "blue book" websites that calculate price based on a percentage of the original MSRP. These websites are not accurate for private sale, and hardly accurate for "trade in value" at a bicycle shop.
Our prices are inclusive of all fees & tax. Prices are not negotiable. Cash is the only form of payment accepted. All sales are final, sold as-is, with no guarantee or warranty stated or implied. If you are looking to purchase a bicycle with a warranty, we recommend purchasing a new bicycle from your local bicycle shop.
Q: Are there any types of checks performed to Consignment Bicycles?
A: Yes. We run the serial number against stolen bicycle databases. We also check the CPSC website for any current recalls. If a bicycle does not clear a stolen bicycle database, or is under any current recalls, we will not consign it.
Q: I see a bicycle I want. Can I send a deposit or payment online to hold it for me?
A: Unfortunately cash is the only form of payment accepted, and we do not offer holds or layaways. If you see something you like, come see us at our next Sale Day, with payment ready.
Q: How accurate is the inventory shown online?
A: We update our inventory online at the end of each Sale Day, and when inventory is added.
Q: What does "CASH HOLD" mean?
A: If you ask for a bicycle to be removed from its' rack, you will be required to provide a "CASH HOLD", which is the purchase price of the bicycle you are requesting to look at. A staff member will hold the cash until the bicycle is either returned to its' rack in the same condition it was removed, or purchased. A "CASH HOLD" ensures to our Sellers that their bicycles are being carefully and respectfully handled by serious buyers.
Q: What is the warranty or guarantee on Consignment Bicycles?
A: There are no warranties or guarantees on Consignment Bicycles. All sales are final; sold as-is. If you are wanting a warranty, we recommend purchasing a new bicycle from your local bicycle shop.
Q: Where do I buy your Consignment Bicycles?
A: We sell our consignments during Sale Days. Sale Days take place at a bicycle shop or public event (bicycle rally, bicycle swap meet, etc). See the banner at the top of this page to see when/where we will be next. Our typical Sale Day takes place on a Friday or Saturday.
